Sylester Stallone Hall of Fame Role

Sylvester Stallone Selected to Boxing Hall of Fame
By Robert Karpeles

Hollywood's impact on the sports culture was felt loud and clear Tuesday in the boxing world.

Think Adriannnnnnnnnnn loud.

Along with Mike Tyson and Julio Chavez, actor, writer Sylvester Stallone was honored into the 12-member 2011 class for induction into the International Boxing Hall of Fame and Museum.

Stallone wrote and starred in the film "Rocky," an inspiring story about an underdog nicknamed the "Italian Stallion" from Philadelphia who was given a chance at the heavyweight championship of the world. The film won best picture, director and editing at the 1976 Academy Awards.

Stallone also wrote six movies in total for the "Rocky" series.

Stallone was inspired to create the film based off of the real-life fighter Rocky Marciano, as well as the famous fight between Muhammad Ali and Chuck Wepner, who unexpectedly lasted 15 rounds with Ali before being knocked out.

"Rocky" is acclaimed by many as one of the best sports movies of all time.

"It has been my privilege to have been blessed with the ability to write about the incredible courage and commitment of the many thousands of real-life Rockys whom we have watched perform honorably in the ring," Stallone said in a statement.

"The two things that brought boxing back to the forefront with the public was the great success of the 1976 Olympic team and when Sylvester Stallone gave us our heavyweight champion -- Rocky Balboa," Hall of Famer Emanuel Steward said. "I still get goosebumps when I hear the Rocky theme."

My College DreamHouse

Damn I wish could live here during Senior Year. The House parties would be Crazy. Found this article online, check it out:

America's first house made primarily of hemp has been built. Using a product known as Hemcrete – a mix of industrial hemp, lime and water – a team of 40 volunteers, sub-contractors and designers have recently completed construction of a hemp house located in Ashville, North Carolina (NC). Eco-friendly design and construction company Push Design has gained the support of community members and local officials alike and now plans to build more.

Using hemp as a building material is not new. Hemcrete is a registered brand of hempcrete, a material has been an alternative building material used in Europe and Australia since the 1960's. The use of hemp in buildings dates back millennia in Asia and the Middle East where the Cannabis plant originates from. The biggest challenges of using hemp as a building material in the U.S are regulation, supply and cost, all of which are related.

What's on his mind?

NEW YORK – A New York University arts professor might not have eyes on the back of his head, but he's coming pretty close. Wafaa Bilal, a visual artist widely recognized for his interactive and performance pieces, had a small digital camera implanted in the back of his head — all in the name of art.
Bilal said Tuesday that he underwent the procedure for an art project that was commissioned by a new museum in Doha, Qatar, in the Arab Gulf.

Titled "The 3rd I," it is one of 23 contemporary works commissioned for the opening of the Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art on Dec. 30. The exhibition is entitled "Told/Untold/Retold."

"I am going about my daily life as I did before the procedure," the Iraqi-born artist said in a statement.

Bilal, who is teaching three courses this semester at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, will wear the camera for one year. It is 2 inches in diameter and less than an inch thick.

The project will raise "important social, aesthetic, political, technological and artistic questions," he said.
He declined to say when the camera was implanted or other details of the art installation, saying it "will be revealed to the public as part of the museum preview on Dec. 15" and on a website to be launched on the same day, http://www.3rdi.me.

Bitter/Sweet Homecoming

I couldn't imagine going back to my home town and not be welcomed, good thing I'm not LeBron. It's a sad day for Miami's Superstar. His return to Cleveland will not be as he imagined it the day he left, maybe he didn't think that far down the road. After all, LeBron was the best hope for Ohio to win a championship in any sport. It's not his fault that Miami is a more appealing place, especially alongside two all-stars. I hope the Cavaliers fan's show some decency and limit their displays of hatred towards LeBron to booing from the stands. Otherwise, the integrity of their their team, arena and city will crumble as their hope for an NBA championship did.   LETS GO HEAT!

A Little Poetry for the Spirit

Reluctance by Robert Frost
Out through the fields and the woods
And over the walls I have wended;
I have climbed the hills of view
And looked at the world, and descended;
I have come by the highway home,
And lo, it is ended.

The leaves are all dead on the ground,
Save those that the oak is keeping
To ravel them one by one
And let them go scraping and creeping
Out over the crusted snow,
When others are sleeping.

And the dead leaves lie huddled and still,
No longer blown hither and thither;
The last long aster is gone;
The flowers of the witch-hazel wither;
The heart is still aching to seek,
But the feet question 'Whither?'

Ah, when to the heart of man
Was it ever less than a treason
To go with the drift of things,
To yield with a grace to reason,
And bow and accept the end
Of a love or a season?

Penny for your thoughts: What is your plan after college?

It's as if graduating college is a bad thing. I guess people are starting to realize that life after college won't be comfortable. In this economy it might be hard to find a job in your local deli; imagine the "real" world. Well for all of you concerned about what you might do once you graduate, here are a couple of tips to help you on your way.
1. Nosce te ipsum- "Know thyself"
This is extremely important when it comes to finding a job after college. What are your dreams and goals? What would be your dream job? What have you always enjoyed doing? What are your skills? These are very important questions that you need to answer before you move forward in finding a job after college.

2. Build a powerful Resume.
When building a resume it's important to focus on what exactly you have to offer to the particular company you are applying for. Show how you're skills will be perfect for that company. Why should they hire you as opposed to someone else? Communicate THAT point and you will get the job.

3. Knowing where to look for a job.
After building your resume its time to find your new job. One of the best places to look for jobs is online. Particularly online job boards. Google search "[type of job you're searching for] + job board. That will bring up the website that has jobs that you're looking for. These types of sites are where you will find many of the best jobs. You can try looking on sites like Monster.com or Careerbuilder.com which are the two biggest job boards. But you will have more success if you look in the smaller job boards.

4. Broaden your network.
Many college grads say the best way to get a job is to look in your network. Let everyone that you know that you are looking for a job. By expanding your network you never know what jobs may come your way.

5. Keep your emotions in check.
Looking for a job can be hard. Especially if it takes a while to find one. Quickly, it become this emotional roller coaster of going from getting excited because you got a call for an interview, to an extreme low when you don't get the job. How you avoid this is simply focusing on the process of getting a job. If you focus on the day to day process of searching for a job, then finding a job after college has less of an emotional impact.

6. The law of averages.
The law of averages stats that at some point you are bound to get a job. Each time a company decides not to hire you, just think of it this way: One more 'no' got you one more 'no' closer to that 'yes' for that job you've been waiting for.
Stick to these tips and you'll get a job in no time.

Numbing the pain for a while will make it worse when you finally feel it

I understand that LeBron was all of the Cleaveland Cavaliers and his decision to leave hurt them, but why is Dan Gilbert so overly upset? When it comes down to it the NBA is not all about the biggest contract. When you have made millions over the course of 7 years there is only one thing left to do: Championship Hunting. That's basically what it came down to. LeBron had enough money and not enough rings. Gilbert should not take it so personally. He should have surrounded LeBron with a championship caliber team. Then "The Decision" would have been made for him.

Working Out the Kinks

What's all the fuss about? Everyone thinks that the Miami Heat are not going to work out any problems they may be having. I received too many text and Facebook post questioning where the Heat stand against the elite. It is true that Miami is 2-7 against teams above .500. However, it is also true that there is a long and promising season ahead of them. Miami should take this time to work out all the problems they have so that these problems do not come up later in the season. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra is doing as good of a job as he can. After all, the Heat are above.500 and are winning all the easier games.

Who will play in the NBA Finals?

I use this site to buy shirts and stuff. Check it out!
